The Life and Culture of Kicks

Adidas

Super Sale: Mega Softcell BHM at Finishline

adidas Mega Softcell BHM

(man, I spent too much time making that collage)

Wanting to try on a pair of kicks that actually look like they have some kick to them? Then give these a try. It’s a little odd looking if you ask me but they do have some kind of air of strength and would probably look good on a small foot (12′ + may look like boats).

Reguardless of my more interesting opinions, the big news is that you can get them at $30 bucks off.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Those other colorways seem yucky though (and there ARE some really interesting colorways)… oh well, you can’t go wrong with $64.99

Currently at Finishline.com

Jerremy Scott loves wings: adidas originals FIRE

(this guy REALLY loves wings)

I have to admit that the wings seem a little bit on the extra side of things but he does make them look good. This time he is using the black and orange colorway for that “I’m moving so fast, that I must have wings on my feet AND the wings are on fire” look

I guess that explains “Fire” being in the name of the sneaker.

Little tid-bits about the shoe:
Was Patrick Ewing signature kick back in he 20th century (1986 to be exact) originally called the Attitude

Currently this is now looked as an skate sneaker… Get it? Skating – motorcycle – good looking model? Well the pics still look good.

Info from SneakerNews.com

adidas Originals by ORIGINALS – JEREMY SCOTT Patent Wing HIGH… now in white and gold

(get the white/gold cause rainbow colored sneakers aren’t ur style lol)

If you collect sneakers and your collection isn’t just a specific pair of sneakers or shoes then maybe you will want to ad this one to it. It will cost you though, but how many people have an attachment that allows you to have wings on your feet? i mean seriously… wings! I actually SAW somebody pull these off very well a few weeks back so don’t think it will be hard to go outside and walk down the street in these. I am sure it would be harder to do it in the more rainbow colored versions of these but both of them are actually easy to work with (I’ll admit the white/gold will be ALLOT easier)

I am sure these are in a few shops but I seen them on Luisaviaroma.com and you can try to order them HERE on pre-order.

ADIDAS TREFOIL HI… is ridiculously high

(I love it… but how would you wear them?)

Seriously… how would you wear these??? lol I am guessing with shorts or something but not sure how pants would work. Can you imagine someone on a scateboard wearing them? They look good though, that is for sure and fashion forward is the only category they belong in. Can’t wait to see someone wearing these bad boys… not my style though lol

For more info click HERE.

On Sale: adidas Originals By ORIGINALS – METALLIC CALFSKIN High Tops

(silver and gold is a good look… and its not even Christmas)

Man, I can’t get enough of LUISAVIAROMA.com

You can get these for $284 dollars. I can imagine seeing these being worn by someone in Williamsburg riding a skateboard in the subway… seriously… because I have. You can buy these HERE if you want them. be Original.

On Sale: adidas ORIGINALS – MULTICOLOR Calf High Metro Attitude at LUISAVIAROMA

(I post this because I care…)

Looking for a multicolor Metro with attitude? Then its a done deal cause here it is. Why wait when you can have this for 170 bucks? More info HERE.

On Sale: adidas ORIGINALS – Printed Calf High Metro Attitude

(the details on this sneaker are pretty nice)

As per the usual, there are no details about this pair of kick on the LUISAVIAROMA but a nice search on Google… well actually that didn’t work either lol

Anyway the point is that if you want to be a little original yourself, you may want to hop over to the site HERE and pick up a pair, but it will cost you $227 bucks to do it. While you are there, check out the adidas Originals category HERE. They currently have like 4 pairs of kicks, 3 of them are just different colorways of the ones above.

So Just What Would A Jordan Sneaker From adidas Look Like?

(I think this would be an interesting contest… yes?)

I would love to know what a adidad version of the Air Jordan (well, I guess it wouldn’t be “Air”… maybe “bounce” or something) would look like. The Shoe Game posted the video first and the comments on the video is crazy, but the one thing really left out was what WOULD it really look like.

So I was thinking of doing some of my own doodles and come up with a adidas line for Micheal Jordan…. but then I was thinking why not also ask the Shoe Game communitty to come up with some concepts? Heck, why not also ask some of those artists at the Kicks On Fire community and maybe NikeTalk  too and see what they come up with.

So I am going to ask, and then post it. I  guess people can vote on which adidas Jordan is the best or most likely to have happened. Until then, enjoy your holiday weekend! I am sure most of the sneakernets and the shoelovers are away for the weekend so it will be a slow weekend, but take heart because Tuesday is when it all starts all over again!

adidas SLVR Collection is pretty interesting

adidas SLVR Collection for women

(do you think you can work this look?)

This is an interesting looking sneaker/shoe/high heel for the ladies. Its sort of a big mix of all 3 and I am not sure if it does it well (probably need to see it in person), but it sure is a looker and you WILL get attention to your feet wearing them; no question. I think the lady wearing these will do well to get something to match for sure. This is one high heeled sneaker that DEMANDS you to dress for them and not the otherway around.

Here is a quote from Sneaker Freaker about this sneaker and the collection:

Launched early this year with a tagline boast of being ‘Simply Perfect’, this new range from adidas is a cocky start to a whole new ballgame. Whilst SLVR appears to be a high fashion concept, adidas PR describes it as ‘affordable, attainable and ultimately wearable’ which, given prices for the footwear are all under €130, seems fair enough. Perhaps the most interesting SLVR footwear innovation is what the shoes don’t have. Like the deadpan Stan Smiths of yesteryear, the range has no adidas branding, no trefoil and zero stripes. The only indication of a maker’s mark are three horizontal bars. There’s also tote bags, socks and a line of classically basic clothing that
has a slight sport tinge to it, and even SLVR flip flops.

Tote bags, flip flops, low cost aka affordable (well lower cost than high end 200+ dollar sneakers) and only those in the know will actually know your footwear is from adidas.

adidas Vulcanized Boot (KAZUKI OBYO COLLECTION) is like wow dude!!!!

Adidas Vulcanized Boot kazuki Obyo Collection

(but are these really boots??? lol)

Here is the quote from Sneaker Freaker about this sneaker:

We’ve shown you the adidas x Jeremy Scott ObyO (Originals by Originals) collection, now it’s time to hit you with the 2nd installment, designed by Tokyo’s fashion darling Kazuki. Having worked closely with Japanese labels BAPE, Fragment Design, Neighborhood and Visvim in the past, Kazuki brings his flair for tailored fashion to the casual market with his inspiring collection for adidas. For more information on the collection, hit up the mini site at Hanon Shop.

So basically this is one hot looking boot and/or sneaker. adidas is a sneaker company I love, but for whatever reason they don’t seem to do to well in the casual area of footwear. Coming up with this makes me think that they are making a comeback to the shell top adidas days of the 1980′s.

Maybe some of these sneaker companies should team up with designers more often to come up with something that the streets will actually love.

An Interesting Look: adidas TS Lightning Creator

adidas TS Lightning Creator

(the colors… looks at all the colors)

I guess its sort of a response to Nike’s Swagger Terminator sneakers but I wouldn’t put it on the same planet as far as style. It’s like 2 totally different styles; one is high end smooth and the other is more gansta ruff, but still attractive…. just not to me lol

See more pics at Kenlu.net (because I refuse to post it here lol) The sneaker also seems to have glow in the dark soles of which add a nice touch to them (but that don’t make them Yeezy’s)

Ladies and Gentlemen The New Olympic BasketBall Gold Winner Is… USA

Most seen sneaker in the finals LOL

Firstly I will admit that I did not know that Team USA lost for the past 8 years… I thought they had a unbroken streak. Secondly I didn’t know that Spain (or anybody outside the US) was that good. I mean Spain was gooooood. If this was an NBA final would Team USA won the best 4 out of 7?

This was a big win. And I might say, since I am grown and sexy, they were successful on AND off the court. I am very proud that they went there and really represented us in the Olympics.

You can see a whole bunch of shots, scores and other data on NBC Olympics (at least in the USA… I think others can go to YouTube to see video). You HAVE to see the pictures. I think the pictures say more than the videos.

And yes, you can see the sneakers they are wearing too in many of the shots. By the way, did anybody notice that when they were playing for the gold that you could only really see the sneakers of the USA team? LMAO On top of that, why in the world, in the OLYMPICS, did they play the theme from the NBA during the breaks? The NBA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! I’m watching the Olympics and I’m hearing the theme when they get to the end of the game.

Unbelievable LMAO

Olympic Sneakers and Shoes: adidas Men’s adiStar Sprint

I saw these tonight being worn by Marshevet Hooker (she is from the University of Texas) running in lane 9 for the 200M (for those who taped the games to see later). I never liked lane 9 when I was running track, but its a mental thing I guess. In lane 9 you are basically running against yourself because you can’t see anybody and when you do, it means you’re in trouble because now your running on the outside trying to catch up with someone on the inside.

LOL, you know whats funny? Lane 1 isn’t any better because now everyone is ahead of you and you feel like your last and forgetaboutit if you don’t start passing people on the curve cause you aint caching them on the straight-a-way.

Anyway, back to the track shoes, they look ok, but they looked MADDD odd out there on the field. You can’t miss them if you are looking at the womens feet for that 200M heat. They looked like they weighed a ton.

Not sure if I would run in them, but I will admit that they look pretty cool. not great, but cool.

Get yours (if you want it) at Eastbay.com on sale for $59.99 (not bad considering the original price is 79.99) of which is a good place for sports equipment. I wouldn’t say this is a collectible, but make no mistake, as my collection of sneakers and shoes grow, there will be some alternative sneakers in the bunch and I will probably have a couple pairs of track shoes in there.

Find more about Marshevet Hooker here or just Google her.

Olympic Sneakers and Shoes: Mens adiStar Sailing

Here in NYC there was a “special” report on sneakers. It looks like I wasn’t the only one who wanted to take a look at what the people in the Olympic are wearing on their feet. Anyway here is a sneaker that the row boat team (or somebody who is suppossed to be on the water) will be wearing. No laces, all zippers lol

Here are the details from the adidas shop site:

adiStar Sailing
Set sail single-handedly in these shoes that are light and supportive so you can ride the water. A neoprene upper with TPU bands keeps you in command. The wind never met such a match.
  • 3mm neoprene upper provides warmth, unrestricted movement and sock-like feel during summer sailing
  • Thin, welded elastic TPU bands for additional comfortable support without movement limitation
  • Optimal for RS:X, Laser, Finn Olympic classes
  • Speed Heel featuring RadialCurve contours, sculpted heel and midfoot for secure grip on wet decks
  • Sticky forefoot rubber cupsole with RadialCurve for superior multidirectional water traction
  • Imported

Source: Shop adidas

Its not a sneaker I think people will wear on the streets of NYC, but it does have style. Plus, its an odd thing to add to your sneaker collection, but that’s what makes you different. :)

The adiStar Sailing costs $75. Plenty of sizes available… of course lol

On Sale: adidas Men’s Mega Spectrum Running Shoe on Finishline

a wild look for running in… for $109.99 (not bad)

Wow, I like this… but not for just chillin in spank you very much, but to run in? Yes I would run in these. The Magabounces I have now work very well so far. I mean I haven’t ran  in them too long or too often, but they feel great. I am mad that I haven’t really done anything in them but i think that will change in the next couple of weeks.

I think this is for the serious runner (jogging) or someone who is interested in comfort while running or going for long walks. I think the price is good and there is no way that if you run during the twilight hours that a car won’t see you cause these things reflect.

Rod Laver Vintage Lux as seen on Sneakerfiles

Sneakerfiles.com has posted this lovely item. Its a few days old but that never stopped me for posting stuff like that before. Looks very grown and sexy as far as I am concerned. They say it will be available sometime next month (as in June) but its a wait and see thing. I hope I don’ miss it when it comes out so I can go and see it.

On Shape + Color: adidas grün “guerilla gardeners”

(from sneakerfreaker and Shape + Color)

What a cool find. While just browsing the WordPress blogs, I bumped into this blog that is into advertising, art and media (which is funny cause I do have a little fetish for that stuff too) and they mentioned this new thing adidas is doing called grün. Grün is green in German. The adidas grün is supposed to be the environmentally safe sneaker.

Sort of what Nike is doing…

Here is a quote snatched from Shape + Color:

Finally, everything in the “Recycled” line is exactly what it says – shoes and apparel made from 100% recycled plastic soda bottles, rubber, and others materials that otherwise would have sat in a landfill for eternity.

(Source)

So basically, somewhat like the Air Jordan 23 “Considered”, here we have a sneaker that is totally recycled and I will assume biodegradable (or at least some parts are easily re-recycled).

Being that Shape + Color is a blog about advertising, art and media, they also show just how adidas markets the sneaker line. The images of one of their adverts (of which is actually the main story which is the guerilla gardeners) can be seen on Shape + Color.

Very interesting… I am going to have to look into this more and see what Nike does, as well as adidas and other sneaker (and shoe) brands.

So adidas has ANOTHER bounce commercial…

I swear adidas is taking this bounce thing too far LOL

I have not gotten a pair of adidas bounce yet. I have bought a pair and expect to be running in them on Thursday so I will give you loyal readers (all 10-12 of you) a preview review. Yes I know, I owe you guys a review on the LeBron Soldiers and the Nike boot Seamless Goamare. It coming. Just give me a couple more days on that one.

The actual commercial is funny; not great, but funny. I do wonder how well they are doing with the bounce sneakers. Are they pushing it or is it moving on its own? I compare the bounce to the Nike Shox but I won’t really know until I get my megabounce sneaker on Thursday.

It seems to me that they push the microbounce more than the mega, but that may just be my perception. I see the bounce type sneaker about everyday, but not too much. I do mostly see the micro-bounce so maybe people like that more.

adidas has a YouTube page where you can meet the individual bounces (lol). Maybe I’ll have some fun and do a post on “Meet the Bounces” lol. Where else do you get this kind of stuff?

adidas HOMECOOKED and the EQT B-Ball Low

Adidas Homecooked Collection on Eastbay

adidas EQT B-Ball Low

adidas Dwane Wade Jersey

adidas Fitted Cap

ONLY ON EASTBAY (at least I think so)

Oh and that’s not all. There is more! I saw this on the catalog that Eastbay send you and I was pretty intriged when I saw it. So I looked at the online Eastbay site and BAM there it is. So far I count 7 different teams. A girly as the Miami one looks (shown above), it is one of the best looking ones in the collection so far.

If you get the whole team, it will set you back a few pennies. More than 300 dollars. I guess adidas figures that it your willing to pay 310 dollars for 2 Air Jordans, then you will pay 300+ for 4 item, ESPECIALLY since it is popular in a few cities including NYC.

More on the collection and my fabulous opinion of it later.

The Army Gold Adidas is Interesting…

Adidas BW Army – Gold – from sneakerfiles

from sneakerfiles

It looks ok and it is a blast from the bast, according to sneakerfiles. personally, I do not remember that adidas had this particular line or what the “normal” colors for this would have been when it cam out originally.

Find out more about this release from sneakerfiles and where to get it.

Best Sneakers For Your Sport – Forbes.com

Best Sneakers For Your Sport – Forbes.com

Adidas Mega Burst Running Shoe - White

Who can pass up a sneaker acticle about fitness? Here is a big quote from Forbes:

If something has inspired you to start a fitness regimen or get back into a sport you once played, do yourself a favor. As you prepare for that first outing, skip the trip to your closet for your two-year-old pair of sneakers.

Not only are they broken down, but they were probably never meant to support the type of motion you’re about to subject them to, whether it’s a long hike, a game of tennis or marathon training.

If you really want to succeed–and stave off runner’s knee, shin splints and tendonitis, not to mention the cost of rehabbing these injuries–you need the right shoes, says Gale Bernhardt, a coach for the 2004 Olympics’ U.S. mens’ and womens’ triathalon teams and a columnist for Active.com, an online community for people passionate about sports and recreational activities.

I saw sneaker and boot brand names that I never heard before in my life. As a person who ran track for like 7 years, I did reconize a couple… but the rest LMAO!Forbes is a busines/rich/upermiddle class destination so I would guess that there would be names of companies who make footwear products would be somewhat unknown, but I only recognized 2 or 3. And guess what people; NIKE was hardly mentioned lol

Top 10 Sneakers… according to Chris Vidal

Top 10 Sneakers of 2007 – Chris Vidal

 Cement Air Jordan Spizike

You know what time of the year it is when you start seeing top ten lists all over the place (unless you are on Digg.com of which you will see lists all the time). Well, here is another list for ya. Do you have any of this sneakers? I don’t!!!! I agree with most of the list especially those Foamposites and the Grey Spizikes.

Take a look at the list. Every pic has a picture and a reason why its on the list. Man, why did I get the “Do The Right Thing” Spiz’ikes? I should have gotten the Grey’s… Oh well.
