The Life and Culture of Kicks

Sneaker Head Edition

Jezign Bubble Cloud… not as bad as I thought PART 2

(looks REAL good at night coming off a motorcycle)

I think its about time this sneaker got a freaking review… don’t you think? It came out last year and it was… well, it just seemed like a bad idea, but a few celebs signed on and they got some attention.

Now that I got them in my hands i have to say they are a pretty decent pair of kicks (but boy are they bulcky lol). Review piece coming right up on the main website Sneaker and Shoes (yes I have a master plan for all of this 2 website thing lol)

Jezign Bubble Cloud… not as bad as I thought

(its actually not that bad)

I thought this was really not going to work, but I bought a pair on what I would call a “SUPER SALE” price at 30 bucks. Anyway to make a long story (soon to be posted/featured on the main site) they did not disapoint and if I knew they would be this cool, I would have had no problem paying the original price.

Just what Nike needs… Running shoes harder on joints than a pair of high heels: study

(don’t run in these ladies… and I guess some guys lol)

So basically what they are saying is that running shoes are worst on your joints than high heels. Looking at the xray you would think that would not be the case.

I guess its time for those sneakers that look like feet, right?

Gonna have to look into this one and feature it on the site. Why? because I just bought 3 pair of running sneakers LMAO

Air Jordan Doernbecher VI… love the details

(love the details on this sneaker)

No reason for posting this, I just love the details. And yes if you must know its a size 18 sneaker and it is available right this second on NikeStore

Diggin’ In The Sneaker Crates: Air Jordan Spizike “Kings County”

(ahhh yes the Kings County Spizike… do YOU have this?)

Lets face it, the colorway for this particular Spiz’ike is off the spizzy (and not nesicarily in a good way). It can work for those with the gift to put together outfits and such, but at the end of the day the colorway was a so-so look.

Pics via Nicekicks.com

But then you put Brooklyn aka Kings County on it and now you cooking with non-dehydrogenated oil… yes I sad it.

I forget just why these were so controversial when the first pictures came on the scene, but if you wanted a sneaker that matches a card in the deck, you were happy to get these. I think these are collectibles MOSTLY because they represent Spike, Jordan and Brooklyn (home of Do The Right Thing and if I am not mistaken home of Spike Lee AND Micheal Jordan… but hey I could be wrong)

Just digging in those sneaker crates… April 2007 on Sneakers and Shoes

Save A Sneaker: Air Jordan XV SE

Air Jordan XV SE by bp__photoshop-showcase

(BP of NikeTalk just saved the AJ XV SE)

A sneaker or shoe can be saved (most of the time) by a change in how the colorway is done. Here is another example of what could have made a sneaker come from just being something that you get because you couldn’t get something else Vs. actually wanting the product. Here BP shows us what could have been with the Air Jordan XV SE. The SE has a few great points with it that I liked (especially technology wise), but the colorways was a no go for most of them.

Would you get these if they came in this colorway?

Lebron Gives A Nod To Jordan – LeBron VII Cool Grey

(I can get behind this)

Why do this? Why the hell not? And it looks really good. This is most likely a collectible. In fact I would say it’s no question that this is a collectible.

I do hope though that it doesn’t show up every time there is a new release of this signature sneaker, but I can get with it if they decide to do it that way (I just won’t like it lol).

More info on Sneakernews… and who is this Kinstor guy? Kinstor is making waves on the sneakernets with these pics much like another guy did a couple of years back (look at the name on the pic in the link). Hope it doesn’t end badly… just like that other guy a couple of years back.

A Colorway That May Just Work – Air Jordan 2010 in Black – University Blue

(I think we found a AJ2010 colorway that works people)

Those Air Jordan 2010′s didn’t get a great reception from the sneakernets (just take a look at Sneakernews and Nicekicks comments to start) but it is very possible that the 2010′s just needed a colorway that works.

Hell, even the see-through circle don’t bother me anymore.

Clear soles, patent leather (patent leather seems to be a favorite for Brand Jordan), and interesting details and a good colorway I think saves this sneaker from almost certain sneaker death.

Now if we can get this in a black-red colorway and a white-red (traditional MJ colorways as a Bull) I think we will have a see-through winner.

More info and pics can be seen on sneakernews.com HERE

Pepsi x Gourmet UNO = Soda For Your Feet

(now look who doing a collabo…)

Pepsi has made the decision to make your feet have a drink… or at least look like it approaves of you allowing your feet to drink… ok, something like that.

The point is that this makes a very interesting collaberation. I think Pepsi made a nice choice here joining up with Gourmet… and does that sneaker look like any other sneaker you have seen before? maybe a fusion of a pair of Converses and a particular Air Jordan?

Interesting… anyway, good look for Pespi. Look forward to some more collabos from non-traditional places like pespi in 2010

Diggng In The Sneaker Crates: Transformers Nike Free 7.0

(this is what a robot SHOULD transform too)

Just looking through my past post over the years and man have I covered some interesting topics. I mean look at this post I made back in 2007 in July. Talk about a callabo that transformed how collabos should be done… sorry I couldn’t help myself.

Just digging in those sneaker crates… July 2007 on Sneakers  & Shoes (because your feet have opinions too)

By the way, Amazon still has a few “pairs” of these left (click HERE). For whatever reason there are still more of them out there. Maybe because people aren’t as interested in Megatron than Optimus (have to admit Optimus is a better colorway pictured on top)

Nike Air Yeezy by Tony M…

(Tony M… give us MORE!!!)

Bumped into Tony M… while browsing the SneakerPims flickr photo pool. I liked it so much I used this and other photos he took as a wallpaper for my desktop.

(me using the pic for my desktop)

Looks Like SneakerNews.com Is Starting The Year Off With A Bang

(well now, what’s this going on here?)

Looks like SneakerNews came up with a idea of having a picture gallery with info and doing it up HD style. Great move! I’m telling you sneaker lovers are gonna have a great year. It only gets better.

Check out the new Sneakernews HD posts HERE including the Top Sneakers of 2009. You know you want to.

(hmmmm… I guess its time to start making my 2009 lists and decade lists as well… and you KNOW mine will be different than anyone else lol… and ladies, I won’t leave you hanging either)

YEEZY Black with Tony M Wallpaper

This is just me getting my desktop ready for some New Year posting. Its the first Monday of the new years (some say a new decade too… but wouldn’t 2011 be the start of a new decade? lol). I know 2010 is going to be one great year for people (and me) who are into sneakers and shoes. Some great stuff is coming down the pipe including techonogies, materials and so forth.

I love being a part of this and I hope you guys reading my blog will enjoy reading my rants, sneaker and shoe picks and other stories I have lined up for the new year. This year is gonna be fantastic (couldn’t think of a better word lol)

You want the wallpaper? Click HERE for Tony M’s Yeezy shots. You be glad you did.

Is Reebok coming Out With A New Style?

(think I said this before… lets hope I am right)

Can Anything Stop The Air jordan 16.5?… clearly the hottest .5 ever made?

(what colorway HASN’T been a hit?)

Whether its the BRED (Varsity Red vs Infrared anyone???), black and white, Cool Grey or whatever, its a hit. The picture above is the Air Jordan 16.5 Hoyas “G” (yeah I call them the G… not the official nickname but maybe it will catch on lol). First seen on Sneakerfiles with pics from jumpman23.com

Will retros ever go out of style?

Who can’t put on these joints?

Copper Penny… SneakGeekz done it again

(I love the concept… not sure about the look)

That copper Penny foamposite is going to be one hot ass sneaker when it releases. I expect khaki sales to run a muck when these come out… I mean what else will go with them? Expect some famous person to wear them try to teach people how to do it (or how not to do it… depending on the outfit).

Whatever… these are collectibles for sure. Maybe you can frame them when your not wearing them (by the way, did I tell you guys that I am going to make a frame for my Air Yeezy’s I won from Nicekicks?)

Thanks to Sneak Geeks.comfor the video

legimlugero, a member of NikeTalk, says you should go nuts…

Air Max Penny 1(I don’t have Photoshop… )

(so I guess I will break out Paintshop Pro lol)

It may be an old post, but why should that stop anyone from adding to it? You have to be a NikeTalk member to post what you think would be a great colorway for the sneakers that legimlugero posted so join and get started (don’t forget to look me up too) .

So Which Hyperpizer Are You? Just Call Me Velvet Hoop lol

I just be hyperizing

(this is as corn ball as it gets… but it works for me)

Glad I saw the whole video cause seeing it in pieces didn’t work for me when I saw it on TV. I can’t imagine it worked for many other people either because it really seemed like something was missing. Now knowing the whole story, I actually like the idea way more than when i first saw it months ago.

Of which makes me wonder; As the basketball season goes on I wonder if they will continue with they Hyperizer movement or will the whole idea and commercials fade away? I guess we will find out.

Space Jam Air Jordan 11 VIDEO by SneakGeekZ

(freaking WOW dude… lol at SneakGeekZ for the sniff test comment)

Oh man these things look freakin fantastic. The video got everything including a mini review of the sneaker and some comparisons to the older Space Jams and other Air Jordan 11′s. Just watch!

DeBate on My.KicksOnFire: Which Jordans Do You Think Are The Most Comfortable EVER????

(and the winner – well at least for me – is)

Air Jordan 23 Chicago Bulls in Black Varsity Red

(ok ok ok… but which Jordan did the posters pick?)

Jordan Men's Retro 8

Second place was the AJ 11 (unless I counted wrong) and 3rd was the AJ V’s. Many mentioned more than one Air Jordan (even 3) as the best instead of just one but over all it was the Air Jordan 8 that came up the most.

What’s funny about that pick is that is is know that Micheal Jordan had some problems playing in that pair (at least that is what was said about them). So something that may not have worked on the court as well seemed to be well received at least on this forum post.

You can read it for yourself here if you wish.

If you have a Kicks On Fire account it will make it easier to state your option as well.

Nike HyperMax Cancelled…. and the sneakernets go crazy

McFly Hypermax

(I say cancel it cause it looks off)

I can’t say that I agree with many of the people on the internet with the cancellation. I think the HyperMax Mcfly look aweful. Its looks odd, the colors seem to make a sneaker that originally looks good, actually looks bad in this scheme and… I just don’t know. It just looks wrong to me.

McFly Hypermax being worn

(cancelled because of the materials on the sneaker possibly?)

Nike Hypermax McFly glow in the dark sole

(at least they glow in the dark on the sole)

But I guess I am the only one who thinks so because they are going bananas over on Nicekicks about the cancellation of this sneaker.

On Nicekicks: Marty McFly Hyperdunk GLOW IN THE DARK

(does they Hypermax really look better than the Hyperdunk?)

People just love this colorway. I love it too, but not on the Hypermax. I think it works better on the Hyperize though.

So call me crazy (or whatever your thinking right now about me lol) but I think I know why they cancelled it… cause it looks ugly.

Nike Hypermax Tennis Ball

One thing I do want to come out is those Tennis Ball Hypermax’s. No reason to cancel that, just keep it limited and I will be happy  (that is if I can get them)

KICKS Issue 12…. YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!!!

KICKS Issue 12

(ITS ON NOW B******CHS)

(lol)

You know what guys… Slam’s KICKS Magazine has been around for a while. Its been around so long that when I was in school and wanted to design a website for KICKS as a class project this is what I came up with:

Project8 KICKS1

(for 1999 this is pretty good if I say so myself)

Project8 KICKS3

(the “I” in Team… who else would come up with that other than me? LMAO

Guess when I did that? Back in 1999 in collage college. Damn, that was a decade ago (why am I showing my age??? lol).

… and hey… Slam Magazine KICKS… don’t get any ideas, this is copyrighted LOL
