S&S Sports Sunday: Karl Does Talk Show, Superman For MVP,
So who should get the MVP or the defensive player of the year?
(I mean… damn, Wade just keeps hittin them.. Superman?)
LT Stays A Bolt
(does LT even have a sneaker deal? Too lazy to look it up)
Girlfirend Helps Hoopster Get Into NBA
(I think every guy needs a gal to back them in the paint like that)
(hope this don’t end up like and episode on The Game)
Yup, a week later, Vick’s house is still up for sale. Don’t expect his sneakers to ever come out. Whoever got samples of them probably got a 2000+ dollar sneaker in their hands. Anyway… Dwane Wade is STRAIGHT KILLIN THEM right now. And don’t make him mad cause you will loose your 14+ point lead in the fourth quarter (right Knicks?). And LT man, I am not sure what all the hub-bub is about but I am glad he is still playing. Its always exciting to watch him play.
Also lets give a round of applause to the lady who is helping her boyfriend get into the NBA. I am sure that is not an easy thing to do. now that they did a whole news story on it, you know the haters and just plane jeouls ones are oing to put ideas into her head and is she and her boyfriend is not carefule, it WILL be just like an episode of The Game 9currently on the CW in NYC but moving to BTE I think this fall)

Sports Marketing Over? A CNBC Video
(but does this marketing work?)
Since I have no idea how to plug in the video from CNBC on my wordpress.com hosted site (I will try that Vodpod option in the future) I will just post a bunch of pictures.
Could this be devistating to sports marketing (at least when it comes to banks sponcering big sports naming stuff)? I suspect Nike and adidas will come into the game… imagine Nike Staduim or Bower Staduim…
Air Jordan True Flight aka SUPER AJ7 Becoming Popular In NYC
(as seen on Finishline.com… get yours too for $139.99)
More and more people are wearing these super AJ 7′s, especially the ladies… I see mad ladies wearing them but the guys are close behind.
It makes me wonder what happened? At first I thought these would be on the super sales rack within 2-3 months, but people really seemed to warm up to the sneaker in NYC. Now I see them everywhere, especially on Fulton Street in Brooklyn (note that Fulton Street has many stores, many jobs where adults go to work, and many schools in the area… you can get a nice heart beat on what’s going on just by sitting in the mall for an hour).
Personally it does look good to me, but I would just rather have a pair of AJ7′s. I do suspect that there will be more SUPER Air Jordans in the future. I would like to see what the 15′s (the worst Air Jordan EVARRRRrrr) would look like redesigned.
Let the retro revolution continue….
In Sneaker News: Vick Gets Early Release… Will Sneaker Follow?

(first seen on Sneakerfiles.com)
Remember those? Nike was supposed to release them many moons ago but since the dog fighting incedent, they pulled back on the release (and may have, if memory serves, released a sneaker that looks allot like the Vick, but without Vick’s indorsment attached to the sneaker).
Here is a clip of what is going on: (more…)
Stunt Dunk Goes Wrong For NBA
It would seem that he is ok according to what I read here but it still looks painful.
Most Wanted Sneaker In 2009: Kryptonate Foampostie Lite
(wow… they are ugly but I am still impressed)
Well, it sure does match his outfit… lol
I think these sneakers, especially with all the buzzz on them on many sneaker websites and blogs, will be the most wanted sneaker for 2009. That is if it actually gets released. I have no idea if it will or not, but if it does, it will proably be limited. Even though everyone seems to be into the sneaker, I don’t think it looks to good. probably because I am not too into lime/green Sprite looking sneakers.
(oh dip!!! yes I said “oh dip”)
But make no mistake, they are special and if you can wear them and/or get them into your collection you will have a real gem on your hands. I would get them if I could, believe me.
You can find WAAAAAY more pictures at SneakerNews.com and I am sure once the Monday is finished, sites like Nicekicks, KicksOnFire, The Shoe Game and Sneakerfiles will have even more info on the sneaker and other events that accored over the weekend.
And what a weekend it was.
SoJones Interviews Blog Founder Matt Halfhill
Guess who did an interview? You ever heard of Nicekicks? I mean I only mention the blog every other day so if you are coming here you must have heard of the site. Well So Jones interviews the one and only Matt halfhill who is the main man behind Nicekicks (and its founder).
If you want to know how a blog that started in 2006 can be the bahemoth it is then you should head over there and read the interview.
If you are into sneakers, you have to, HAVE TO read this article.
Now if you are into sneaker AND shoes then stick around here for more posts LMAO
PS
Why are you still here reading this? Go read the interview thank you lol
In Sneaker News: Olympic Sneaker Wars
There is no way that sneaker companies are fighting for the chance to be seen at the Olympics with
Olympians wearing their gear (I’m not a swimmer, but I bet everybody and their mother will want a Speedo… just not too sure how far that will carry). There can’t be a battle for the Olympic floor.
Or can it?
According to Black Book Mag (via the Wall Street Journal) Nike and adidas seem to be at war with each other from sports such as fencing to weightlifting and of course track and basketball. adidas is the official sportswear sponsor of the Games, but that has not stopped Nike from making sneaker for the Olympics (obviously lol)
According to the article, the Nike has 28 different shoes and adidas has 27 (come on adidas, pick up the slack!) of which include table tennis sneakers and slippers for gymnastics… lol I have to post those if I can find them.
HAWT!!! Its not for me, but maybe its for you hmmmm? They need to make a street version of this boot! And what’s crazy about this is that it has zoom technology. I don’t know about you, but it just seems weird to have zoom tech in a boot like this.
You know the best part of this post? A link to a slide show from the WSJ!!! LMAO Who doesn’t love this kind of stuff?
In Sneaker News: If You Bought From Sports Authority Beware – Largest ID theft case ever
An ID case that has penetrated some of the most popular stores including Sports Authority and Discount Shoe Warehouse. 41 million credit and debit card numbers stolen all sorts of stores involved (not just footwear and sports stores I might add including TJ Max, Boston Market, Barnes and Noble). Some info was sold to other criminals and the rest was used to create duplicate cards.
And they did it using wireless networks of the stores.
They have no idea how much was stolen (but even if its low, it can in crease over time because they are now you with your identity) but TJ Max is saying it cost them over 200 million. This is a big deal ladies and gentelmen because we all shop online and we all shop in stores. These 11 individuals are just the beginning to what will be the next level of criminal activity… identity theft.
If you haven’t put your identity on lock yet, I think you should start thinking about it. Check your credit reports (from all 3 credit report bureaus… not point in just checking one) and go to annualcreditreport.com of which is set up by the feds in joint with the 3 credit bureaus (ummm don’t go to free credit report.com because the free isn’t so free after 7 days and no I never used the product but I am HIGHLY suspect of those commercials… even though they are pretty good commercials)
Be careful out there and happy sneaker and shoe shopping!
What??? Nike Cuts Air Stab in response to Knife Violence
I… HAVE.. NO… WORDS… Check out the full story at Nicekicks.com
Unbelievable.
Future Sole Design Competition Gives Back
Yes, businesses should do this type of stuff all the time. Get the kids involved and keep them dreaming and reaching for the stars.
Now I think they should have something for us adults cause we have dreams to you know lol Check out the designs that are featured on Sneakernews.com showing 2 designers doing their thing. Big pictures. Shout out to Ben and Juan!!!
In Sports News: Celtics Win, Lakers Lose 131 to 92… but you knew that already
AND THE WINNER IS
It looks like Kobe and the Hyperflight will have to wait until next year. Nevertheless Nike gets the big win (but so does adidas and Reebok) because they cover both teams and their leaders. The sneaker winners are Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen aka Brand Jordan (Nike), adidas and Reebok
Here is some more info on the Ray Allen sneaker angle… and Paul Pierce… and so forth.
Here is a video from YouTube from the NBA.
Cool!!!
Remember to look at the sneakers!!! I hope sneakernews.com does a picture post of the finals. if they don’t, I’ll be sure to ask them when they will.
In Sports News: Celtics hold off Lakers
In the battle of teams (and sneakers) who will win?
I really think the Lakers will win, but they are sure making it tough for themselves right now. If they lose the third one… no more HyperFlight car/pool jumping?

In Sneaker News: Leave That Sandal Alone
Looks like you need to leave those sandals at home (unless you work at a real cool workplace). Oh well, too bad. My next sandl feature is “The Sandals of Eastbay”. Then after that, “The Sandals of Macy’s” lol Finishline and Zappos somewhere down the road. Personally, I think you could get away with the sandals pictured above, but not those thong sandals you can buy for 2 dollars at the hair store LOL
PS
Did you know New Balance has a really cool casual shoe? Post about it later.
In Sneaker News: On Your Feet by the washingtonpost.com
On Your Feet – washingtonpost.com
How do shoes affect your feet? Is there a good way to walk in heels? Want to know about Morton’s neuroma? How about hammertoe and pump bumps?
Yeah, you want to wear those Jordans, but your foot is a little wide. Yeah, you want to wear that High Heel DKNY shoe, but now you got hammer toe
In Sneaker News: Kobe needs to embrace Jordan legacy
Is it really Micheal Vs Kobe?
Or should it be Kobe embracing being the next Micheal Jordan?
As you can read here, some people’s opinion is that Kobe should not run away from the legacy, he should embrace it.
Not an option. The idea that Bryant should be considered apart from Jordan is plainly preposterous, and now — near the conclusion of a season in which Bryant has at long last shown himself to be authentically Jordanesque — more than ever. As it happens, given Bryant’s famously voracious appetite for victory and his place in basketball history, he has but one satisfactory option. Fortunately, for him at least, it’s not only doable, but highly probable. Bryant needs two trophies here: one denoting a Lakers championship, and another commemorating his performance and the 2008 Finals MVP.
Kobe can be Kobe all he wants. But anything less will diminish his legacy.
Is it still necessary to itemize the basis for comparison? Kobe Bryant came of age in the age of Michael Jordan. For him to have idolized anyone else would’ve been setting his sights too low, a form of slumming. Their similarities were pronounced by the time Bryant announced his sneaker deal as a high school senior in 1996. They were the same size, and played the same position the same way. Bryant mimicked the mannerisms — the shrug, the finger wag, even the way in which he cradled his first championship trophy — while mastering Jordan’s real moves.
Stuff White People Like says – White People LOVES New balance Sneakers lol
So on this site that I occasionally browse every day or so says, tongue in cheek of course, that white people love New Balance sneakers.
Now, of course you can’t go up to a white person and talk to them about their sneakers. Ohhh noooo. The footwear wear world of white people are fo fickle. Uggs, Birkenstocks, Earth Shoes… Uggs, (did I mention that already? lol) come and go, but New Balance running shoes??? Always hot. Here is a quote from the blog (this blog has been one of WordPress.com to p 10 blogs) Stuff White People Like:
There is, however, one exception: New Balance running shoes. All white people own a pair! Seriously, next time you are at a casual party where guests are encouraged to take off their shoes take a look by the door at the veritable rainbow of New Balance sneakers.
But why do white people love them so uniformly? It is pretty simple really. A few years ago it came out that Nike (and other manufacturers) were producing their shoes in Asian sweatshops and then selling them for a very high profit margin. White people were outraged, they generally prefer that children in developing nations first finish high school before working in shoe-producing sweatshops. Otherwise they might look foolish when their co-workers are talking about Catcher in the Rye.
If this site wasn’t so funny and almost obviously poking fun at racism, I don’t think it would be so popular or hilarious. So stuff like #94 Free Healthcare and #84 T-Shirts are think you need to know if you want to be in the world of upper class white people. Here is a list of my favorites:
- #88 Having Gay Friends
- #16 Gifted Children
- #29 80s Night
- #81 Graduate School
- #83 Bad Memories of High School
lol
Good lawd, fun times. Stuff White people Like is a very funny site and I can only hope and pray it is being done in comedy because stuff like this can not be for real LMAO.
In Sneaker News: Business Week Writes An Article On Sneaker Culture
Business Week has written an article on what it means to be a sneakerhead. Long lines, people accusing you of wearing fakes, lots of money spent and so forth. At least people who are well into being sneaker head (unlike myself, I’m a beginner lol), at least they know that according to another article written here that they are leaders as well.
Tell them I sent ya.
In Sneaker News: Phil Knight Getting His Retirement Ready – Sells His Nike Stock
I read this in Newsday (a NYC newspaper) and on the Huffington Post. I’m not mad at this. The guy is like in his 90′s or something lol so why not start taking out his money so he can do his thing? I know people are gonna get mad that he is taking his stock out of his company. “Doesn’t he believe in his company anymore?” I can see someone saying or maybe “He’s just etting rich like all those other CEO’s”.
What I say is what exactly would you do? You start a company, you spend 60-70 hour weeks, end up in debt to investors and lay most of the money you have on the line endorsing your first athlete (you know him… Micheal Jordan), so I think after retiring almost 3 years ago, he can take his money out and start investing other things AND put his money in the bank.
The 70-year-old Nike founder has done hundreds of separate stock sales since mid-April, collecting $1.05 billion – well ahead of his $780 million cash-out of shares in 2007. That’s the year he placed 14th in Vanity Fair’s ranking of windfalls made by the rich from selling stock or family empires.
At Knight’s current pace of selling his shares, the one-time track star at the University of Oregon is likely to pass reigning cash-out king Bill Gates, who topped Vanity Fair’s windfall rankings last year at $2.8 billion in stock sales.

Now that is a good look. Makes you think to yourself how can I make the millions?
In Sneaker News: Babylon collecting sneakers for Nike to recycle
It looks like the town of Babylon has decided to do something for Earth Day many day ago. Hey I don’t think its to late to blog about something like this.
As part of the Earth Day celebration, the town of Babylon employees (all the employees of the town??? are we talking about city workers or everyone who works there?) have collected what would have just gone to the trash and taken it to the Refuse A Shoe program. I never heard of this program so I am glad to have found out about it. Anyway they took the shoes to an area Nike store and Nike will turn it into what they call Nike Grind.
Here is a quote from the Newsday.com story:
As part of this year’s Earth Day celebration, town employees are collecting old sneakers that otherwise would go into landfills for donation to Nike‘s Reuse-A-Shoe program, which uses the recycled material in different parts of sport surfaces in communities across the United States and around the world.
Babylon will deliver the donated sneakers to Nike’s store in Bellport, which will ship them to the company’s processing plant in Beaverton, Ore. That’s where the shoes are ground up into a material called Nike Grind.
According to Nike’s Web site, most of their synthetic surfaces include 10-to-20 percent recycled material – rubber from the outsole, foam from the midsole and fabric from the upper.Source: Newsday.com
This is good news for everyone. I am glad that companies are at least trying to do something about what is happening to our environment. Whether you believe in global warming or not, the bottom line is that we can NOT continue to treat our environment the way we do and thing NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. That, my felly sneakers and shoe fans, is just plain ignorant.
PEACE
In Sneaker News: Is Apparel Doomed? Whats Goning On? And Why Did Mariah Marry Nick Cannon? LOL
With the economy going down… and then up… and then a little up… and then down again, people don’t have as much money to buy those sneakers, shoes, 22′s, suits shirts and pants. Apparel easily becomes the bastard child when it comes to peoples wallets. I mean, come on; if food prices go up, you still got to each and if gas goes up you still got to go to work and have hot water. So while this may be the Year of the Jordan, maybe, just maybe businesses in the world of clothes and footwear might take a hit.
After reading this article here on how apparel business might have a hard time this year, it looks like analysts are counting out businesses in retail and clothing due to all the reasons mentioned above and then some.
Say Good Bye to the 30 and 45 dollar t-shirt?
As you may or may not know last year was the year of color when it came to sneakers and in order to match, all you really had to do was get a t-shirt. In NYC the hottest t-shirt of 07 was the I Love NY t-shirt. You could get any color even though officially there are only 3 (black, white and pink off the official NYC Visitors site). You also still had the left over Brooklyn t-shirts from 06 still around as well in assorted colors. The question I have is what will happen this year? What will happen to the smaller cothing companies and niche brands? If Mariah married Nick Cannon, owner of PNB, will she be in the poor house? What happens to ALIFE, Todd Smith, Creative Recreation and other clothing and footwear lines?
When will it get better? Maybe after taxes come in for 2009. I do think though, that niche brands might not be in too much trouble cause of brand loyalty and he people they focus on has more discretionary money, but who knows. PNB Nation used to be a brand you could get everywhere, but now it is a highly focused clothing brand. Maybe all brands should think about that.
But it looks like Linens ‘n Things won’t make it that far.
For those getting that 300, 600 and 1200 dollar stimulus package rebates, there are PLENTY of businesses setting up to GET AT THAT PAPER offering 300, 600 and 1200 dollar gift certificates… WOWWOW.
